What is Bowen therapy?

The Bowen Therapy is a gentle and holistic muscle and connective tissue therapy that was developed by the late Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia. The practitioner applies specific ‘moves’ over muscles, tendons or joins with the aim to balance the body and to stimulates the body’s innate healing mechanisms.

Bowen therapy can be used to treat musculoskeletal or related neurological problems including acute sports injuries and chronic or organic conditions. It is gentle and relaxing and does not use forceful manipulation.

The Bowen technique is a non-invasive, gentle technique therefore suitable for any age group, from newborns to the elderly. Bowen therapy is safe for any musculoskeletal or related neuro muscular either acute or chronic.

As Bowen is a holistic treatment that treats the whole person, the aim is to treat the cause of problems, rather than the symptoms.
